Taffy Apple Pie

Pastry for a double crust 9" pie (I use the already made refrigerated ones)
6 rounded cups of thinly sliced apples
3/4 cups sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
Smucker's Caramel Sundae Syrup

Line bottom of pie pan with pastry; sift dry ingredients together and mix with apples; place apple mixture in pie plate and top with butter; cover the top with pastry and crimp or flute edges to seal; make a few slits in the top for steam to escape; Bake at 400 for 35 minutes, reduce heat to 325 and bake 15 minutes more. I put tin foil around the edges so that they don't brown too much) Cool, and drizzle Smucker's Caramel Sundae Syrup over the top----Enjoy!!

Almost forgot - sometimes I also sprinkle chopped nuts, usually peanuts, on top of the caramel!
